I marched in the streets tonight along with thousands of other New Yorkers to protest the passage of Proposition 8 in California, which unjustly stripped marriage rights for same sex couples, after those rights had already been granted. It was an amazing feeling to be in the middle of this energetic crowd. I'll post all my pictures from the protest later tonight.
UPDATE: According to organizers there were over 10,000 people in attendance. We basically closed down the streets from Columbus Circle north to 65th street.
There was a pedicab going by when I took this picture. Since it was moving it's blurred, and it makes a really cool effect. Almost like a ghost.
A crowded train is the best place to stretch out and study? Really?
View as the 7 train pulls into the Bryant Park station to wisk me away to the magical land of Queens.
I wasn't quick enough to get them actually filming, but the woman standing and the man seated next to her were making some type of movie - I assume a student film based on their age and the cheap equipment they had. When I stepped on the train the woman was in the doorway and the man had a camera rolling.
You can see downtown Newark through the glass. The reflection is the lobby of the Prudential Center.
This is intermission at the So You Think You Can Dance show. A huge crowd of chicks are waiting to buy some branded junk. $35 for a Tshirt anyone?
Here's the site of tonight's performance by the SYTYCD kids. Hopefully my seats will be better than last year, when I was so far away I had to watch it on one of the giant screens. And once again I am one of the few men in attendance, but that's normal for me.
I've become fascinated with taking pictures of reflections. I like how your eye focuses on the reflected image first and the slowly becomes aware of what's on the other side of the window. This was taken during my imprisonment in the flabby Bastille.
So I'm taking the train out to Newark to see So You Think You Can Dance in concert. I was able to find a seat on a very packed rush hour train; one of the seats near the front of the car where my seat is about 1 foot from another set of seats facing me. Don't know who designed this configuration, cause I've never seen anyone who could fit all 5 seats.
